• The real sex lives of historical queens (The Cut) Two new movies focus on the sex and reproduction of queens in the 1500s and 1700s. Spoiler: lesbians are not a new thing.
• The future of abortion rights (NYT) The supreme court rejected cases from LA and KS this week that would prevent Planned Parenthood from accepting Medicaid for any (read: not abortion) services, including pap smears, STI testing, and other preventative screening.
• India is banning porn…again (Quartz) Apparently Indians always top the list for greatest porn consumers, yet the country continues to try to ban it.
• Using meth while pregnant (NPR) This is actually a huge problem in obstetrics – with research (and accessing care) often lagging behind the absolute needs of women and their families.
• “Life-giving transplants” (NYT) A baby was born to a mother who had received a uterus transplant from a deceased donor.
• Man love (On Being) The power of tender male friendships to reduce toxic masculinity
• A scandal in creating a “gene edited baby” with a technology called CRISPR (Atlantic) also see an interview with Stanford Law School Professor about this topic and the US
• Why Doctors Hate their computers (New Yorker) Atul Gawande explains why electronic medical records are frustrating for doctors and patients – but might actually be creating better health care.
• The argument for taking the LGBT out of the LGBTQ (Atlantic) One Q person tries simplification.

LISTENING

• Super surrogacy (Oprah) Oprah talks to Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade about parenthood through surrogacy, paternity leave from the NBA, and raising black boys in America.
• #MeToo Solutions? (On Being) with Feminist author Rebecca Traister and psychologist Avi Klein (who wrote a NYT Op-Ed about “What Men Say About #MeToo in therapy” that is also worth reading!)
• Playdate with Christians (How to Be A Girl Podcast) A mom and her transgender daughter navigate new next door neighbors
