Do I have Postpartum Depression?

1 in 7 women and 1 in 10 men experience depression after a birth.

On our episode this week about Postpartum Depression, we talk about how there are many aspects typical of depression symptoms that can also be typical of normal life adjusting to a new baby.

If you or someone you know is concerned you might have Postpartum Depression, talk to your provider as soon as possible.  Here are some other resources that might be helpful:

Postpartum Support International (postpartum.net)

*one of our favorites is online mothers group from home (click: join us)

*one of our favorite links is: find local resources)

Center for Women’s Mental Health (womensmentalhealth.org)

If you’re curious about what symptoms are included in the screening of PostPartum Depression, here is an online calculator that goes through the Edinburgh Depression Scale, a common screening tool.

Again, please talk to your provider if you are experiencing any of these symptoms: there’s help and you can feel better!
